individual Therapy

When you need change, not just coping.

When the demands keep piling up, anxiety won’t quiet, perfectionism takes over, or you no longer recognize yourself beneath all the roles you carry, it can be difficult to know what needs to change—or where to begin.

Individual therapy gives you space to understand the deeper patterns shaping your thoughts, emotions, and choices, develop practical skills, and move toward a more grounded and intentional way of living.
Areas of Focus
  • High-functioning anxiety, perfectionism, and burnout
  • Trauma and grief
  • Loneliness, emotional disconnection, and difficulty feeling known
  • Identity, career, and major life transitions
  • Faith, meaning, and existential concerns
Typical Format

Weekly or biweekly 50-minute sessions, in person in Carlsbad or online throughout California.

Couple Therapy

When connection matters more than being right.

Conflict keeps circling without resolution. Closeness gives way to distance. You may feel more like roommates than partners, while work, parenting, major transitions, or differences in needs and goals place even more pressure on the relationship.

Using Restoration Therapy, we help you understand the cycle beneath the conflict and practice new ways of responding in session. Over time, you can break destructive patterns, rebuild genuine connection, and navigate challenges as a united team.
Areas of Focus
  • Communication and recurring conflict
  • Emotional disconnection and sexual intimacy
  • Trust repair after betrayal
  • Parenting challenges, including disability and neurodivergence
  • Major life transitions and external stressors
Typical Format

Weekly or biweekly 50-minute or extended sessions, in person in Carlsbad or online throughout California.

Therapy INTENSIVE

When you need concentrated support.

Ideal For
  • Couples in crisis or at critical decision points
  • Betrayal, infidelity, or a significant rupture in trust
  • Major life transitions requiring focused attention
  • Individuals or couples seeking deeper work in a concentrated format
Typical Format

Multi-hour sessions held in person, with the length and structure shaped around your situation.

The Arbor way

In a throwaway world—we believe what’s broken is worth repairing.

Understand your story.
How you see yourself, relate to others, and move through the world has been shaped in relationship—by what you learned about love, trust, belonging, and your own worth. We take time to understand the experiences and messages that continue to influence you.
Uncover the root.
When distress or disconnection takes hold, self-protective reactions can become automatic. Together, we trace the beliefs beneath the struggles that keep returning.
Repair what’s broken.
Change grows as you learn to regulate difficult emotions and respond in ways that are more loving, trustworthy, and intentional. Over time, these choices can strengthen your sense of self, deepen your relationships, and help you engage more fully in your life and the communities that matter to you.

How do we get started?

Complete our inquiry form to request an appointment. We’ll be in touch within one business day with next steps for scheduling your first session.

What can I expect in a discovery call?

A discovery call is a brief conversation with one of our therapists where you can ask practical questions about our approach, availability, and services. It is not a therapy session.

Do you accept insurance?

We are out-of-network providers and do not bill insurance directly.

We can provide a superbill for you to submit for possible reimbursement if your plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits. Because coverage varies, we recommend confirming your benefits directly with your insurer.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes. We offer online therapy to clients throughout California, as well as in-person sessions at our Carlsbad office. You may also combine in-person and online sessions when appropriate.

What is a hybrid session format?

A hybrid format combines in-person and online sessions. You may meet mainly in person and use online sessions when needed, or meet mainly online with occasional in-person appointments.

How long does therapy take?

Therapy does not follow a fixed timeline. Some clients come for focused, short-term work, while others benefit from a longer process. We’ll clarify your goals, review progress together, and adjust the pace and frequency as your needs evolve.

What are therapy intensives?

Therapy intensives give individuals or couples more uninterrupted time than a standard weekly session allows.

They may be helpful during a crisis, at a critical personal or relational crossroads, or when recurring patterns need sustained attention. Intensives are multi-hour sessions offered in person in Carlsbad.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. Therapy is confidential, with limited exceptions required by law. We explain those limits before therapy begins and welcome any questions about your privacy.

Can faith and my cultural background be part of therapy?

Yes. We recognize that faith, spirituality, and cultural background shape how people understand themselves, their relationships, and the world. We approach therapy with sensitivity to these influences and integrate them in ways that reflect your values and preferences.

What should I do if I need immediate support?

Arbor Therapy does not provide emergency or crisis services, and our forms, email, and voicemail are not monitored continuously.

For immediate mental health crisis support, call or text 988. If you are in immediate danger or experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
